The HTAA Sponsors Special GATS Performances by Nashville Recording Artist Lindsay Lawler
Known nationally as the Healthy Trucking Sweetheart, Lawler will premier “Highway Angel,” a tribute to TCA Highway Angel program
DALLAS – Nashville Recording Artist Lindsay Lawler, an advocate of healthy trucking who is known for her country rock style, will perform Aug. 26-28 at the Great American Trucking Show (GATS) and debut her latest track, “Highway Angel,” a tribute to the Truckload Carriers Association Highway Angel program.
Lawler’s performances during GATS will be in the HTAA Health, Wellness & Safety Pavilion Performance Area, booth 23167, at 2-2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26; 1-1:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27; and from 11-11:30 a.m. and 1-1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28. Lindsay will be available for meet and greets and autograph signings for 30 minutes after each performance.
"As an artist, I travel a lot, and I know how hard it is to stay healthy on the road,” Lawler said. “I am thrilled to support the HTAA in their efforts to promote healthy living for the truck drivers that we count on every single day." Friday’s performance will premier Lawler’s brand new song “Highway Angel,” a tribute to TCA Highway Angel program. The TCA Highway Angel recognition is awarded for a driver's good deeds, ranging from simple acts of kindness to heroic life-saving efforts.
“The Truckload Carriers Association Highway Angel Award represents one of the trucking industry’s highest honors in the area of driver safety,” said Brett Blowers, HTAA spokesperson. “Since driver health falls under the category of driver safety, as the nationwide authority on driver health and wellness the HTAA has chosen to team with the TCA and throw our support behind this outstanding award. We therefore asked Lindsay, our Healthy Trucking Sweetheart, to write and record a song as a tribute to the TCA Highway Angel program and all of the past, present and future winners of the award.”
Lyrics from “Highway Angel” are written to express the thanks of the HTAA and Lawler for the truckers that go above and beyond to help those in need:
“Highway Angel, a beautiful stranger/ Who would be the light, on my darkest night/ And save me from this danger/ Highway Angel/ Saved my life passing through, but that’s just what you do/ Road to road, coast to coast, giving back more than most.”
With many family and friends involved in the trucking industry, Lawler sees working with the HTAA as a natural fit for her music. While the HTAA offers programs to improve the health of professional drivers, Lawler recognizes their plight and connects with the drivers through her music.
Lawler’s high-energy performances at the famous Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge on Broadway in Nashville, Tenn., is often filled with travelers passing through. After speaking with the crowd following many of her shows and working with the HTAA, Lawler has become a person her fans can talk to and connect with while on the road. Her well-known song “Truckers and Rodeo Crowds” has long been a trucking industry favorite, leading Lawler to be featured on the February 2010 Cover of “Driver HEALTH” magazine, the official publication of the HTAA.
"I am honored to be working with such a noble association as the HTAA,” says Lawler. “The men and women trucking professionals I have met are such amazing, hard-working, loyal people. I look forward to supporting and entertaining the industry, and hopefully keeping them company on the road with my music!"

About HTAA
The Healthy Trucking Association of America was established as a result of alarming statistics concerning the unhealthiness of the professional truck driver population. Current statistics show that over-the-road professionals have an average life expectancy of less than 61 years and exhibit well above average occurrences of a wide variety of ailments and conditions, including high blood pressure, sleep apnea and obesity to name a few. The HTAA offers programs to improve the health of professional drivers and has quickly evolved into the leading authority on driver health and wellness issues.
The mission of the Healthy Trucking Association of America is promoted via multiple lines of communication, including representation at all major transportation trade shows, their annual Healthy Trucking Summit, Healthy Trucking Brunches, an interactive website, a variety of digital media vehicles, a monthly newsletter, and the official monthly magazine of the HTAA, Driver HEALTH; which is the only magazine dedicated to the health and wellness of drivers.
