The Healthy Trucking Association of America (HTAA) Continues Life Saving Mission at GATS
DALLAS – The Healthy Trucking Association of America will provide life saving resources for all attendees and exhibitors of the 2010 Great American Trucking Show (GATS), including free blood pressure screenings and access to health and wellness products and services at the HTAA Health, Wellness & Safety Pavilion located at booth #23167 in the Dallas Convention Center.
“The HTAA has provided free blood pressure tests at past events, referring countless drivers to local emergency rooms because of their dangerously high readings,” said Brett Blowers, spokesperson for the HTAA. “Many drivers would have never known about their health risks without the free screenings. By providing this free service, the HTAA has actually used our exhibit booth space to save lives—an accomplishment very few exhibitors can claim.”
Over the past several years, the HTAA has provided free blood pressure screenings from coast to coast at truck stops, fleet terminals and numerous trucking shows. During these events, HTAA estimated they have performed more than 300,000 free driver blood pressure tests and alerted thousands of hypertensive drivers about their condition along the way.
In addition to the free blood pressure tests and the HTAA Health, Wellness & Safety Pavilion at GATS, the HTAA will sponsor product demonstrations, musical performances and Health and Wellness Focus Group Sessions. GATS attendees and exhibitors are invited and encouraged to visit the HTAA Pavilion to learn more about healthy trucking opportunities.
“We thank Randal-Reilly Events Group for their continued support of the HTAA and salute them for understanding the industry-wide need to improve the health of our nation’s drivers,” said Blowers. “Establishing HTAA Health, Wellness & Safety Pavilions along with other fitness resources at all the major trucking events is an important component of the HTAA’s continuing efforts to bring improved health to the industry.”
The HTAA currently reaches hundreds of thousands of drivers every year through their many media vehicles, including Driver HEALTH magazine, multiple websites, email newsletters, and an extensive ongoing schedule of exhibits and demonstrations. About HTAA
The Healthy Trucking Association of America was established as a result of alarming statistics concerning the unhealthiness of the professional truck driver population. Current statistics show that over-the-road professionals have an average life expectancy of less than 61 years and exhibit well above average occurrences of a wide variety of ailments and conditions, including high blood pressure, sleep apnea and obesity to name a few. The HTAA offers programs to improve the health of professional drivers and has quickly evolved into the leading authority on driver health and wellness issues.
The mission of the Healthy Trucking Association of America is promoted via multiple lines of communication, including representation at all major transportation trade shows, their annual Healthy Trucking Summit, Healthy Trucking Brunches, an interactive website, a variety of digital media vehicles, a monthly newsletter, and the official monthly magazine of the HTAA, Driver HEALTH; which is the only magazine dedicated to the health and wellness of drivers.
